On this first episode of  the show’s 7th season, Dig and Lukas pay their respects to Grateful Dead Bassist Phill Lesh. 

News:

The news kicks off with a 3 part update on California’s social consumption law, a D8 ban and the vetoed direct to consumers sales bill. Next up the hosts take a closer look at Ohio’s sales numbers, New York’s “Operation Padlocks” money problem and a fascinating study about the psychedelic “subjective” experience and its role in healing.   

Interview:

This episode Lukas talks to Christian Rasmussen, owner and founder of Minnesota Nice Ethno-Botanicals, about the rise of ethno-botanicals like blue lotus,   Kava and amanita muscaria mushrooms  . They dive deep into the effects of these plant and fungal products and their legal status. Episode 59:  For this jam-packed episode of The Cannabis Corner, Lukas and Dig get started discussing cannabis pest management in the Northwest as harvest time approaches.

Episode 58:  Sparking back up on the Corner this week, Dig and Lukas get the show started with some updates on what they have been up to in the cannabis and psychedelic  space lately.

News

The news kicks off with another story about “dirty” cannabis in California with a report from the LA Times and weed Week; followed by a look at how Ohio adult use cannabis is doing in its opening weeks. The last two stories take a closer look at some psychedelic news with an update about Olympia’s “natural” psychedelic decriminalization resolution and  closing out the news segment, the hosts talk about the recent FDA decision on MDMA and an update about Mathew Perry’s ketamine  related death

Interview

This episode Lukas interviews researchers Genine Coleman, executive director of Origins Council  and Khalil Ferguson, CEO of The United Core Alliance about the Legacy Cannabis Project in California. During the interview the three talk about: What is legacy cannabis?;  How the study will preserve the rich oral history surrounding California’s “legacy” cannabis community?; How the study will help establish intellectual property rights for over policed communities most affected by the drug war.; And, the overall objectives of the study, among other things.

Episode 57: This episode of The Cannabis Corner kicks off with Dig and Lukas discussing the Washington State 37% medical cannabis excise tax repeal.

First up the hosts update the audience about social equity efforts in Massachusetts, San Diego and Washington, followed by a discussion of a NORML article around the cannabis job market, an update on a Union protest in Phoenix, AZ at a Curaleaf dispensary. Lastly, they take a look at Germany’s new adult use cannabis regulations.

Interview:

  In this week’s interview Uncle Dig interviews Cavemane, an Oklahoma cannabis seed breeder and grower. They have a conversation about Oklahoma medical and adult cannabis, seed and strain selection and some info about Cavemane’s cannabis creations.

Episode 54: Lukas and Dig jump Episode 54 off by comparing their experiences getting their medical cannabis cards this year. In the News: The news begins with a chat about Twitter’s entry into cannabis advertising. Next up the hosts cover San Diego awarding social equity grants and an update about a pair sentenced in a cannabis and cattle ponsy scheme. Lastly, the show updates the audience on the DEA’s stance on synthetic cannabinoids.  Interview: Bailey Hirschburg , of WA NORML and the Cannabis Observer, joins the show to talk about cannabis legalization, WA homegrows, cannabis consumption lounges and cannabis in popular media.  It’s a Bust: This It’s a Bust travels south to cover four men arrested for carrying bails of cannabis across the U.S. Mexico border.

Episode 52: We get started with a discussion about the ailing cannabis industry. In the News: The news takes a look at Kentucky’s efforts to legalize medical cannabis; How Republicans could hijack cannabis policy from Democrats; the Alabama medical cannabis license outlook and lastly, the status of cannabis policy in Amsterdam. Interview: For this week’s interview, Lukas speaks with Dean Schwartz, founder and CEO of Bud Club USA, about the benefits of homegrowing, some tips for folks wanting to try homegrowing for the first time and how easy and fun it is to get started growing cannabis at home. Review: For this episode, Lukas has the pleasure of reviewing a Bud Club USA grow kit. It’s a Bust: This IAB looks at some startling cannabis arrest stats out of Indiana.

Episode 51: In this second episode of Season 6, Lukas shares his experiences at a recent live broadcast event with KTQA 95.3 LP FM in Tacoma. In the News: The news kicks off with a discussion about New York’s new cannabis market and the state’s emerging “gray market.” Followed by a closer look at decriminalization efforts in Ireland and Pennsylvania’ subsidizing low income seniors medical cannabis. Lastly, the pair share where Oregon’s psilocybin legalization efforts stand after the November elections.  Interview: This week The Cannabis Corner welcomes Gregory Foster of the Cannabis Observer. Gregory and Lukas discuss Washington cannabis topics like the Social Equity in Cannabis task Force, a possible THC limit bill this session in Olympia, traceability in Washington and other WA centered topics. It’s a Bust: IAB follows a case in Ohio and Pennsylvania where cannabis was found being shipped via rail from Mexico in New Ford Fusions.

 

Episode 50: The 50th episode of The Cannabis Corner gets started with Lukas and Dig catching up on what’s going on with life and cannabis after the end of Season 5 break. In the News: In a sad and tragic story, the news segment begins with a look at a child’s death in Virginia allegedly due to “Delta 8 THC toxicity,” followed by a discussion about the second annual Leafly Cannabis Report, Florida’s growing medical cannabis market and Mississippi’s medical cannabis outlook. Interview: In this segment, Henry Hagen (of the Henry Hagen Band) interviews Hempfest Organizers, activist and supporters at a Hempfest fundraiser earlier in the year. He speaks with Vivian McPeak, Levi Lyon, Caitlin Ryan of the Cannabis Alliance, Kitty Junk, Bootleg Bill, King Youngblood, Stacy Block and James Laythrim about their thoughts on where Hempfest has been and where the world’s largest protestable is going. It’s a Bust: Each show, Lukas and Dig take some time to talk about the ongoing arrest of people for various cannabis crimes, despite cannabis being the 6th largest crop in the country. This week Lukas brings up the large busts, 200 lbs +, that are ongoing in states like Wyoming and Nebraska.
