Marilyn Kimmerling took a trip to Norway for the Nobel Peace Prize in December 2022, and did three interviews. Hear Marilyn’s intro here:

First interview: We all went to The Norwegian Nobel Committee and met the Director, Olaf Njolstad, who explained his organization and showed us around. The committee chooses a theme for each year’s peace prize and takes almost a year to pick the next laureates based on the theme. 2022’s theme was the importance of protecting journalists and journalism and memory to promote a more peaceful and just world.

Second interview: We all went to The Oslo Center for Peace and met with Kjelli Madne Bondevik, founder of the Oslo Peace Center and former Prime Minister of Norway. He took us on a tour of the center and, of course, did an interview with us. The listener will hear Kwabi, Isaiah Connor (Kwabi’s friend), Kjelli, Marilyn, and Larry Rosenblum (Marilyn’s brother).

Third interview: In the morning we all went to The New University, which in addition to being a regular university, has an international program for “gap” students. These are students who have graduated from High School and take a year off to delve into what they may want to pursue in college. For students who want to explore peace-making mediation, social justice, etc, this is an ideal fit. We had lunch with two of the professors and 2 of the students. Our visit was during Christmas vacation, so there were only 2 students at our meeting. Still, we had a great lunch, conversation about peace, justice, tactics, which you will hear. One of the professors, Chris, is from Wales, but I didn’t catch the other professor’s name! She is American, though, on loan from her university.

After that, Larry and I went to Frogner Park to see the sculptures of Gustav Viegland, which was highly recommended.
