Tom Bates On and In Ukraine
As of April, 2022 4.1 million refugees have left Ukraine. They left their homes, almost all of their possessions, and most have been forced to abandon their pets. By one estimate, Ukraine was home to some 750,000 dogs and 5.5 million cats as of 2014. In their desperate rush to flee war, many of those animals were left behind by their owners, especially large dogs.
