Global Climate Strike Sept. 20, 2019
This Global Climate Strike mobilization is a joint response by a broad coalition of groups, NGOs, unions and social movements across the world to young people’s call to action for September 20, 2019.
Our local strike will begin at People’s Park, 1100 S 9th St, Tacoma, with a Rally at 2pm. At 4 pm we will march to City Hall to demand that the City of Tacoma declare a climate emergency. We will then meet with a march of the Protectors of the Salish Sea, who are walking from the LNG site to Olympia. There will then be a Climate Emergency Rally on Sept 24th.
Many local groups are involved with this. You can locate a group near you and become involved. Some groups that we know of that are alarmed by the climate crisis are:
Affiliated Tribes Of The Northwest, including the very active Puyallup Nation
Indivisible Tacoma | Secondary Website
Advocates For A Cleaner Tacoma
Water Warriors
Citizen’s Climate Lobby | Tacoma |
Sunrise Movement | Northwest |
Pierce County Conservation District | Secondary Website |
