Tacoma’s annual Pride Week goes from July 8th to the 16th in 2016. One of the central events of the week is Out In The Park, an afternoon festival with music, drag shows, food trucks, vendors, sponsors, and community groups. Taking place downtown, the event spanned from 7th street to 9th Street on Pacific Avenue and took place on July 9th. Like the many years before, the Rainbow Center organized the all-ages celebration of community. In this piece, we will hear from some of the organizations that were there. As the event began, Tacoma Stands Up mobilized a crowd to march into the event. What follows is audio from People’s Assembly rally, followed by the voices of Tacoma Stands Up, The Grand Cinema, Oasis Youth Center, Gay City, Urban Grace Church, Camp Ten Trees, Tacoma Clinic Defense and the Pierce County Aids Foundations.
